Chocolate Protein Bars (CAKE)

Good morning!

Saturday mornings are great aren’t they?!  I decided to be a rebel and skip boot camp today.  I think I need to ease my way back into working out since that vacation.  I”m telling you, I can’t believe how four days of being off throws you.  My body feels like it weighs a million pounds. LOL.

I did get up and do the elliptical for 33 mins instead.  That even kicked my butt.  Oh well.

I came home and ate one delicious protein bar (which taste more like cake) with my recovery shake. 🙂

Clean Carpets

After the elliptical and eating my my delicious protein breakfast I steam cleaned my carpets.  Ahh… so nice to have fresh, clean carpet. 🙂  Love that “fresh feeling.”

Bagel Friday

Yesterday I was so excited…it was “Bagel Friday” at work again.  Well this week, the guy whose turn it was to bring bagels (which I can never eat) actually brought a bunch of healthy almonds.  We had strawberries, blueberries, almonds, orange juice.  The “table of doom” never looked so great and I could actually partake!!

So yummy!  And felt soo good after a week of eating crap!!

Well, I’m off to run some errands.   Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Careful with the Hot Eggs

I got up early this morning despite going to bed late. That ALWAYS happens to me.  Ugh.  I guess I just am not meant to sleep in anymore! 😦

I decided to go do some cardio so threw on the gym clothes and headed to the gym for the elliptical machine.  I did about 44 mins and burned about 418 calories.  It felt good but I truly wasn’t feeling it.  You know some mornings you have all this energy and are ready to jump into your workout and other mornings it’s a total drag. This morning, it was a drag!

I headed back home and decided to do two slices of Ezekiel bread and egg whites.  It was SO good, HOWEVER I was so hungry I dug right in.  Well apparently the eggs were too hot (of course I guess, I started chomping ’em pretty much right out of the pan)!  So, I burn the roof of my mouth!  I hate that.  I mean I’m taking the kind of burn where you can feel that lil’ fragile skin dangling down with your tongue.  EWW!!!

Fortunately or unfortunately, it hasn’t stopped me from coming to Starbucks and drinking my hot coffee.  But every time I take a sip that tender lil’ area is not feeling to good.  Ugh.  Oh well.  Thank goodness our bodies heal!

Prayer

Speaking of healing, I am hearing some pretty disheartening news lately from friends regarding “junk” that’s going on in their marriages.  It is so sad to me. I mean these are great people.  You know they got something special and you don’t want to see them throw that away.   I feel like the spiritual warfare surrounding marriages is huge right now. Of course, Satan wants to tear down the first institution God created and wreak havoc on the family.

So, if you are a believer (and I hope you are) would you join me in prayer for marriages and families in general?  Thanks!

It’s so tough…the culture we are up against.  But we gotta keep fighting the good fight.  It’s worth it!

Well…I’m off to church now!  Enjoy your Sunday everyone!  BE BLESSED!

Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia

Happy Friday!

Yesterday’s boot camp and BodyBlade classes were brutal.  I made it through boot camp ok, but gosh my arms were so tired for BodyBlade.  That’s a good thing though, since my arms are what I really want to focus on toning!

 Morning Cardio & Breakfast

I got up this morning and just did some light cardio. My legs were pretty sore from the three boot camps (3 days in a row mind you) this week, so I wanted to get some blood flowing to them for recovery, without pushing too much resistance.

I ended up doing the elliptical on level two for 33 minutes, and that seemed good enough!

I went back home and couldn’t wait to dig into my overnight oats. This morning I added chia seeds for some extra “Omega-3 punch”.

Have you jumped on the “chia bandwagon”?

Chia Seeds are full of amazing health benefits!  Check out these stats…

(Source)

Chia seeds are said to:

  • Boost energy
  • Balance your blood sugar
  • Help clean your intestinal tract (high in fiber)
  • Aid in weight loss (the fiber keeps you fuller longer)
  • Reduce the risk of heart disease
  • Lower blood pressure

… and much more!

I am going to be doing more baking with these amazing seeds!  Can’t wait to try them in my muffins! 😉

Questions of the Morning:

  • Do you cook/bake with chia seeds?
  • What is your favorite chia seed recipe?

Good Friday and Good Coffee

Matthew 27:28-37 KJV

“And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head. And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him. And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross. And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull, They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink. And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. And sitting down they watched him there; And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

I am SO thankful for the cross of Christ. My heart is overflowing with Joy this morning, that the GOD of this Universe, the creator of ALL things, sent His son, to die on a cross, as punishment for MY sin, so that I can be SAVED!!!

I don’t know about you, but that brings me tremendous PEACE today. No matter what you are going through (in this life, you will have trouble) remember this is not the end. Life on earth is not the “end all” and death does not have the victory. You know why? Because Jesus dying on the cross is not the end of the story… in THREE days, He ROSE from the dead! He returned to Heaven to be with the Father, but because of Him… we too do not have to face death without hope. He promises in His word that if we put our trust in Him, we too will have EVERLASTING life!

If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” – Romans 10:9

Do you believe that today? If you don’t, I encourage you to seek Him out. He says, “if you seek me, you will find me.” (Jeremiah 29:13)

One thing is for sure in this life… we will ALL die. You can eat right, exercise, take your vitamins 😉 … etc, BUT we all will have a day when our time will end. Our hearts will take their final beat. In that moment, you will stand before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. At that time, He will determine your fate. Did you know Him? Did you trust in Him for the forgiveness of your sins?

It is a FREE gift, you don’t have to DO anything. Just put your hope and trust in Him. IT is simple!

Will you invest in your eternal future? Will you be sure of your eternity? I pray that you will know Him today!

Workout

I got up at 4:45 this morning (even though I didn’t have to; I didn’t even set my alarm – I am off work today). I headed to the fitness center and did 50 minutes on the elliptical. I got 8 miles in and burned 470 calories. It felt awesome! 🙂

I enjoyed a special treat this morning with my oats. COFFEE! But not just any coffee… heathy, organic coffee!

Organo Gold

As I’ve mentioned before, I was told by the cardiologist that I have to go “Caffeine Free.” I’ve been doing decaf for a little over a year now. I’m always looking to try some great tasting varieties of coffee.

A kind reader offered to send me a sample of some organic Gandoerma coffee. This coffee is actually made from the Gandoerma mushroom.

The website states:

  • Ganoderma Lucidum is believed to provide the following health benefits:
  • Increases energy & vigour
  • Boosts stamina
  • Oxygenates the body
  • Acts as a natural detoxifier
  • Increases mental focus
  • Supports the immune system
  • Provides over 150 all natural antioxidants to fight free radicals

… and much more!

Wow, sounds like some awesome health benefits to me! If that’s really what it does, I’ll take it!

As I opened the little packet and poured it into my cup, I noticed the aroma. Smelled pretty good I thought. I added the hot water, and watched it bubble a bit (I like bubbles in my coffee). I stirred it up and took a sip. Not bad!

I noticed right away it had the “dark roast” flavor. I could tell it was a little more than “just coffee” in my cup, but not in a bad way. There was a slight bitterness to the taste, but not any more than a dark roast coffee would typically have.

I’ve been purposely drinking my coffee black lately (as to avoid extra calories with cream and sugar) and so I didn’t add a thing to this.

Overall I would say it does have a pretty unique taste, but was ultimately enjoyable. I am looking forward to trying my second cup, and seeing if this is something I might be interested in.

I will put its claims of “boosting stamina” to the test in about an hour when I hit up my first Body Blade class. 😉

Have a great morning, I am off to Body Blade!

Coconut Oil – The Wonder Oil!

Happy Wednesday!

We are half way through the week! So looking forward to being off on Friday, and celebrating this weekend my Savior’s death, burial and RESURRECTION!!

Workout & Breakfast

This morning I did… take a guess… the elliptical! AGAIN! 😉 However, I did switch it up a bit and did some interval training. I set the intervals for 2 minutes on level 3 and then 2 minutes on level 5. It did a good job breaking me into a sweaty mess and burned 325 calories. Good stuff!

For breakfast I had my usual, overnight oats (this morning I added some delicious dried cherries) and egg whites (cooked in extra virgin coconut oil).

Coconut Oil

I’ve really enjoyed cooking with coconut oil lately. I’ve done a lot of reading on it, and I am convinced this stuff is amazing for you! Not only do I cook with it, I put it in my bath water at night (total relaxing, skin softening soak), use a little in my hair before bed for a special treatment, and put it on my skin as a moisturizer.

Btw… my cat Posy LOVES when I do this; she licks and licks all of the coconut oil right off my skin (causing me to reapply, and then reapply, and then…). 😉 I think I have now turned her into a coconut oil addict as well. Oh well! The good thing is, it is just as good for your dogs and cats as it is for you!

Just say No!

Ok so seriously, look at this homemade banana bread someone brought in…

Banana bread with CREAM CHEESE FROSTING. Apparently, it’s a Paula Dean recipe. Now how am I supposed to say “no” to this?!?!

Ugh. The Temptation!

I had to settle for my detox tea…

… it’s good if you are wanting tea! BAD if you are wanting cream cheese frosted banana bread! 😦
